Wikipedia’s local presence

Thankfully the press about Middlebury’s adventures in Wikipedia has been dying down, but the best article I’ve read about the issue was published this month: Vermont Today was a lengthy in-depth feature concerning Wikipedia and Middlebury’s policy, written by my favorite reporter to chat with, Susan Youngwood. The piece is notable for its length & depth, its accuracy about the Middlebury debate, and mostly for its focus on how a global phenomenon like Wikipedia ties to the microcosm of Vermont – Susan explores the site’s role in a variety of locales, from high school libraries to diasporic Vermonters who participate in ensuring accurate Vermont coverage in Wikipedia. Plus she gets my quotations correct and quotes my excellent former student Grace! Check it out…
